We had a lovely turnout for our latest round of talented readers last Monday at Middlesex Lounge. The stories were at turns funny, thoughtful, sad, and winsome. I was so pleased to have brought these writers together.
Karyn Polewaczyk reads her essay, "Mistaken."
Adam Stumacher reads an excerpt from his novel, A Liar's Opus.
Krysten Hill reads "Dorothy Returns," "The Black Girl Talks Punk Rock," "Sorry," and "Bury."
Wendy Stetson reads her confessional tale, "Healing, Bruising."
As always, we had a wonderfully responsive audience. I was grateful for them and for the work of Karyn, Adam, Krysten, and Wendy, which you can watch here.

Krysten Hill is a daring demiurge.
Krysten Hill is a third year poetry MFA student at UMass-Boston from Kansas City, Missouri. She received her BFA in Creative Writing from Stephens College, where she became involved in Women’s Studies and activism. Her mother poets include: Audre Lorde, Nikki Giovanni, and Patricia Smith. She believes that this “page vs. stage” argument is getting out of hand and thinks that a poem should live in whatever skin it feels good in. Her greatest desire is to form a collective of women poets who travel around teaching the power of voice to the girls on front porches who wonder what that aching in their chests is all about.
Krysten is the poet for the July 16 reading.

July, the first full month of summer, always hot, always filled with days when I’d rather be reading.
Luckily, I’ve lined up four stellar writers to read to me (and you).
Join us, dear readers and listeners, at Middlesex Lounge on Monday, July 16 when Krysten Hill will be our poet, Karyn Polewaczyk will be our essayist, Adam Stumacher will be our fiction writer, and Wendy Stetson will be our confessional reader.
As always, I’ll be your host. See you there, Boston.
